Express Entry

Express Entry is used to manage applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs:

  • the Federal Skilled Worker Program: IELTS 6.0; at least one year work experience within the last 10 years in NOC 0,A,B; an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an agency approved by CIC.
  • the Federal Skilled Trades Program:  IELTS 3.5 – 5.0; two years work experience in a skilled trade and have an offer of full-time employment for at least one year, or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority ; an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from an agency approved by CIC.
  • the Canadian Experience Class: IELTS4.0 -5.0 for NOC B jobs; IETLTS 6.0 for NOC 0 or A jobs; have at least 12 months of skilled work epxerience in Canada in the three years before you apply.

Candidates will be ranked against others in the pool using a point-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System. Points are awarded using the information in their profile. Under this ranking system, young canadidates with strong English ability will have a better chance to be invited.

If you think you do not a competitive score, you may choose to apply through PNP program. Provinces and territories can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry system through their Provincial Nominee Programs to meet local labour market needs.
